Article 1 Name
The name of the organisation shall be YOUNG ORATORS CLUB, hereinafter referred to as 'THE CLUB'.  
Article 2 Motto
The motto of the Young Orators Club, shall be COGITAS VERITAS.  
Article 3 Purpose and aims
    a) To recognise, encourage and develop the oratorical ability of young women and men;
    b) To build respect for the rights of others based on recognition of the worth of each individual;
    c) To emphasise acceptance  individual responsibility as a basis of personal success and group achievement;
    d) To develop a sense of awareness and sensitivity towards human affairs;
    e) To provide an opportunity for intellectual growth and the development of rational faculties. 
Article 4 Membership
    a) Membership of the club shall be open to all men and women who, having fulfilled the requirements of induction as mentioned in the Articles of Association, meet with the unanimous approval of the Board of Officers. 
    b) Any person as described in para (a) above, desirous of joining the club shall be sponsored by a member of the club and/or in the eyes of the Board, meet the standards of membership and his/her membership shall be deemed confirmed after the unanimous approval of the Board.
    c) (i) A member shall be required to attend at least 50% of the meetings within a six-month period.  (ii) Also, if the member is absent without prior intimation to the Board for a period of four successive weeks, the Board shall reserve the right to place him/her under suspension. After three months dating from the first week of absence, is/her membership shall be automatically terminated 
    d) (i) The admission fees and the monthly fees, as described in the Articles of Association, shall be paid to the club as and when applicable, by all active members of the club.        (ii) In case of suspension of membership due to non-attendance, accretion of dues shall not be stopped.   (iii) Termination of membership shall be automatic if a member has accumulated dues payable to the club amounting to six times the monthly dues. Termination under this clause shall however be considered only during the half-yearly/annual meeting of the club. Re-entry to the club is possible only if dues existing at the time of termination are paid along with an additional admission fee.
    e) A member may, with the unanimous approval of the Board, have his/her membership frozen for a specified period of time. He/she shall be exempt from the payment of monthly dues during the period of non-attendance. 
    f)  Member may, with the unanimous approval of the Board, have his/her membership frozen for a specified period of time. He/She shall be exempt from the payment of monthly dues during the period of non-attendance.   (i) Failure to continue to meet the required qualification for membership.    (ii) Failure to meet attendance or dues requirements.             (iii) Death of the member.       (iv) Termination of the club.   (v) Voluntary resignation.       (vi) A cause as determined by the Board. 
    Provided that termination under clauses (i) and (vi) of paragraph (f) shall be by a vote of not less than two thirds of all members.             Further provided that termination under clauses (ii), (iii) and (iv) shall be automatic.
    g) Any member whose membership has been terminated under clauses (i), (ii), and (vi) of paragraph (f) has the right to appeal to the board, in the presence of the general Body, against the termination.    The decision of the Board in such regard shall be FINAL and BINDING.
    h) Only members in good standing shall be allow to vote on any issue. In order to be considered to be in good standing, a member                 (i) must not be under suspension          (ii) must pay dues regularly     (iii) must not be liable for expulsion.
Article 5 Meetings
The club shall meet at least twice a month at a place and time suited to the convenience of the members with due regard to their official and academic obligations.  
Article 6 Officers and duties
    a) The Board officers shall consist of the President, the Secretary and the Treasurer, elected from among the members in good standing for a term of one year. 
    b) The Board of Officers shall be the final governing body of the club. 
    c) All decisions, policies and actions of the Board and of the club shall   however be subject to the scrutiny of the general Body. 
    d) (i) The President shall preside at all regular and special meetings of the club. He/She shall, with the approval of the Board appoint all standing and special committees as he/she may deem necessary, citing their duties at the time of appointment.  (ii) The secretary, in the temporary absence of the president, shall   preside over all supervise the functioning of all special committees appointed by the president.The secretary shall maintain all club records. He/She shall keep minutes of all meetings of the club. He/She shall also maintain the attendance records of the members.      (iii) The Treasurer shall have custody of all the club funds and shall maintain all necessary financial records. He/She status at each business meeting, and shall hold all records available for the information of any club member.    
Article 7 Elections
    a) Elections to the Board shall be held annually.
    b) Nominations for each office shall be made at least one week prior to the polling day. 
    c) Elections shall be by secret ballot under the supervision of the outgoing president. 
    d) If the office of any member of the Board falls vacant during the term   running, the post shall be put up for election within two weeks of the   vacating of the post. 
    e) In no case shall more than a simple majority of the members be required for any office. 
    f)  No member shall be allowed to serve as president for two consecutive terms. 
Article 8 Impeachment
    a)  Any member of the Board can be removed from office if any confidence motion tabled against that Board member by active member of the club, meets with the approval of more the members on the rolls at that instant. 
    b)  Any extra-constitutional., decision of the Board may also be over ruled by the General Body if more than two thirds of the members present at the meeting vote against the same 
Article 9 Articles of Association
    a) The Articles of Association appended to the constitution of the  club lay down the guidelines including inter alia the following matters:                 
      i.The conduct of the meetings of the club;                
      ii.The re requirements of induction, and membership;                
      iii.The fees and dues payable by the member of the club;                
      iv.Any other matter concerning, directly or indirectly, any activity of the club. 
    b) The Articles of Association, though not a part of the constitution, shall be strictly adhered to by the Board and members of the club in all matters concerning the club.
    c) (i) The Articles of Association, or any part thereof, may be amended,  added to or deleted from by the Board provided the amendment/addition/ deletion meets with the unanimous approval of the board.       (ii) The amendment/ addendum shall come into force two weeks after it has been brought to the notice of the General Body.             (iii) Any amendment of, addition to or deletion from the Articles of  Association may however be over ruled by a two-thirds vote of the members of the general Body present at the concerned meeting. 
Article 10 Amendments
The constitution or any part there of may be amended, added to or deleted from by a vote of atleast two-thirds of the members in good standing. The amendment/addendum shall come into force two weeks after its approval by the General body of the club.
